INTERVIEW ON THE PRICE OF BUSINESS SHOW, MEDIA PARTNER OF THIS SITE.
Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed Dr. Cornelius Grove.
Since the late 1960s, Japanese and Chinese students have invariably attained top scores on the international comparative tests, while American students have never gained better than middling scores. Why has this outcome never changed? Beginning around 1970, anthropologists and other scholars undertook hundreds of research studies in East Asia, trying to understand why East Asian children are superior academic learners. Their research looked at both child-rearing in homes and lesson-teaching in classrooms. Relying on those scholars’ published reports, Dr. Cornelius Grove has made their findings easily comprehensible for interested Americans. His first book, “The Drive to Learn” (2017), explains how East Asian child-rearing leads to children who are receptive to classroom learning. And now, “A Mirror for Americans” (2020) explains how East Asian preschools and primary schools turn out superior academic learners. Both books are short, with texts of 116 and 126 pages, respectfully. For more information, visit www.amirrorforamericans.
