3 Steps to Allow Opportunity and Adventure into Your Life

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Going internally and listening to my intuition to make decisions, rather than endlessly thinking, has given me the ability to jump at opportunities that come my way. Such as when I traveled to 21 countries in a year.

Most people have an internal belief system which stops them from doing what they want. It tells them that they are supposed to be a certain way … go to school, get a good paying job, get married, have kids … does this sound familiar?

In the book, The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying by Bronnie Ware, the most common regret is ¨I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.¨. The second most common regret is ¨I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.¨. If these statements are feeling all too familiar, don´t worry, it’s not too late. You have the opportunity now to change your life so that these regrets do not become a part of your future.

Yes, I can hear what you are thinking, it’s easier said than done, I don’t know where to start, I don´t know how. The idea is to take baby steps. Here are 3 steps you can take advantage of today to be open to opportunity and adventure:

  1. Be aware of when you push aside opportunities. When you hear yourself say I can´t … ask yourself why can´t I. Change your perspective and retrain your brain to look at the possibilities rather than the reasons why not.

  1. Use your intuition and stop overthinking. Overthinking is like a cat playing with a ball of yarn. It keeps batting that yarn all over the place until it becomes a huge mess of intertwined wool. How can anyone make a decision when all of the thoughts around the decision is in a ball in your head. Start listening to your intuition, go internally to find the answers. There are many methods that can be used to tap into and strengthen the power of your intuition.

  1. Research modalities or tools that will help you reprogram your brain so that you can delete internal beliefs that are not serving you.

If you have already gotten yourself into a thinking frenzy and you are stuck in the mire of indecision, it is time to let the words out. Write on paper, type on your computer, talk to a friend, coach or counselor. It doesn’t matter who or what, the point is to get the thoughts out in any way you can, without judgment. This way it will free your mind, unravel the ball of yarn and then allow you to go internally, to see what feels right and use your intuition.

You need to start now, make the decision to change your beliefs and allow opportunity and adventure to flourish. Years from now, imagine yourself, reflecting on your life, what do you want to think … I wish I would have or Look what I did and it was wonderful!
